A parent often exhibits hurt and angry feelings towards the other parent when the family structure breaks down. Children may feel divided loyalties and can get caught in the emotional, physical or verbal crossfire when parents come into contact with one another to allow children time with the non-residential parent. Children often cover up the pain they feel when exposed to the parent conflict and may be traumatized or anxious about being together with both parents during this stressful time.
The West Side Visitation Center provides supervised visits and exchange services to provide for the physical and emotional safety of children and adults when families are changing. Our specially trained staff provides fair and objective monitoring taking children out of the middle of parental conflicts allowing the child to maintain the parent/child bond.
